The City of Desert Hot Springs has a Council/Manager form of government (City Charter §200). Citizens elect four City Council Members at large. The Mayor is directly elected and serves a two-year term. Council Members serve a four-year term. The position of Mayor Pro Tem is rotated annually in December. The City holds elections on the first Tuesday of November in even-numbered years.
