Welcome to the biweekly Desert Hot Springs Economic Development Roundup! We're so happy to share the great news happening in our city.

The Spread Sandwich Shop Opens at 66169 Pierson Blvd

The City welcomed a new sandwich shop in February. The Spread is located at the endcap of the plaza on Pierson Blvd., east of Delicias Mexican Cuisine. The owner/operators, Jameson and Amanda Walker, also own and operate Dillon’s Burgers and Beers at 64647 Dillon Road in Desert Hot Springs. The shop is open for takeout and outdoor dining from 11 am to 6 pm, Tuesday through Sunday, and anticipates adding evening hours in the future.

The new venture features fresh produce from the nearby Farmer in the Dale grocery store, at 66425 Pierson Blvd. The Spread’s ingredients are fresh, never frozen. Their menu includes a variety of sandwiches and subs.

Housing Market Sales are Strong

Our two newest housing developments report strong sales in 2021.

Agua Dolce sold 11 of 14 homes in the release of the first phase of homes, with prices ranging from $339,900 to $409,900. Models are under construction at the site, with an anticipated grand opening in April. The total project will have 73 homes constructed by GHA.

Meanwhile, Sunset Springs, by Watermarke Development, reports that all 11 homes in the phase sold within two weeks of release, priced from $$349,990-$395,460. All homes are sold in Watermarke’s adjacent development, Watermarke @ Rolling Hills.

City Amenities Continue to Grow

This past year, the Public Works Department finished two street improvement projects on Palm Drive that installed missing sidewalk, street lights, ADA Ramps, new buffered bike lanes, lane reduction for traffic calming, flashing warning signs at bus stops, and road surface rehabilitation.

The projects extended along Palm Drive from Camino Aventura to Pierson Blvd. The City also installed three new traffic signals on Palm Dr and Camino Aventura, Palm Dr and Desert View Ave, and Pierson Blvd and Cholla Dr. Check out these photos, or take a drive down Palm to see for yourself!
