California Governor Gavin Newsom announced today that effective immediately, counties that have been approved to move more quickly through Stage 2 may reopen hair salons and barber shops. In addition, the State announced that places of worship may reopen.
In both cases, reopening comes with some changes to normal operations.
According to the State guidelines for hair salons and barbershops, available here, businesses must require customers and employees to wear face coverings. Other recommended protocols include staggering appointments, widespread cleaning and sanitizing, promoting social distancing when not cutting hair, and removing amenities like magazine from reception areas.
Churches and other places of worship can reopen with limited capacity of 25%. Other recommended measures include social distancing, avoiding singing, avoiding passed collection plates, banning pot lucks, and encouraging the use of face masks. The protocols for places of worship are available here.
