The City of Desert Hot Springs has declared a local state of emergency.
The decision was made at a special meeting of the City Council this morning after a unanimous 5-0 vote.
"This decision positions the City to be able to receive emergency funds from the federal government, if and when such funds are released," Mayor Scott Matas said. "It is just one of the many decisions we are making to ensure that Desert Hot Springs stays strong through this crisis."
Other Coachella Valley cities that have declared a local state of emergency are Palm Springs, Cathedral City, Rancho Mirage, Palm Desert, and Indio.
This news follows an earlier decision to restrict gatherings and restaurant operations. The details of those Orders can be read HERE.
