The City of Desert Hot Springs is seeking applicants to fill a vacancy on the Planning Commission.


 

NOTICE OF UNSCHEDULED VACANCY

PLANNING COMMISSION

 

Pursuant to Section 2.24.030 of the City of Desert Hot Springs Municipal Code (“DHSMC”), notice is hereby given that one (1) vacancy exists on the Planning Commission.

 

ABOUT THE PLANNING COMMISSION:

 

Pursuant to DHSMC Chapter 2.24.020, the Planning Commission shall consist of five (5) members each appointed by one (1) member City Council, and ratified by a majority vote of the City Council. Members are appointed for two-year terms (current term expires January 2020).

 

 

Meetings:

Regularly scheduled meetings of the Planning Commission are held on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. at the Carl May Center/Council Chamber, located at 11-711 West Drive in Desert Hot Springs.

 

Purpose:

The City's success is linked to its ability to plan for the future. As such, the Planning Commission plays a vital role. The commission’s responsibilities include:

    • Ongoing evaluation of the City's building codes and ordinances;
    • Continual update of the City’s General Plan;
    • General oversight of zoning review and variances.

Compensation:

Each member of the Planning Commission shall receive a salary in the amount of $50.00 per meeting (DHSMC 2.32.050).

 

Requirements:

Requirements for serving on the Commission consist of being a resident and registered voter of the City of Desert Hot Springs (DHSMC 2.24.040).

Application Deadline

 

The deadline to submit completed applications is September 25, 2019. The appointment will be considered by the City Council at the October 1, 2019 City Council Meeting.

This notice was duly posted as required by law. Final appointment will not be made by the City Council for at least ten working days after the posting of this notice.
