The Adoption Process 

Thank you for visiting the website of Desert Hot Springs Animal Care and Control. You are invited to view our available pets online or to arrange a visit to our shelter.

Please be advised that adoptions are conducted on a first-come, first-served basis. Due to our limited staffing, we currently maintain a policy of being closed to the public. However, we are pleased to schedule meet-and-greet appointments that accommodate your availability. We can also provide photographs, videos, and any relevant background information about the pet prior to your scheduled meeting.

During your visit, our animal adoption coordinator or a member of our staff will facilitate the meet-and-greet process between you and your prospective pet. Once you have reached a decision, our adoption team will assist in finalizing the adoption process.

Adoption Policies 

• Must be at least 18 years old to adopt
• Must provide a valid photo government ID
• If you are a renter, you must obtain your landlord's permission to adopt a pet.
• Desert Hot Springs Animal Care and Control reserves the right to refuse an adoption for any reason.
