NOTICE OF UNSCHEDULED VACANCY
PUBLIC SAFETY COMMISSION
Pursuant to Section 2.24.030 of the City of Desert Hot Springs Municipal Code (“DHSMC”), notice is hereby given that one (1) vacancy exists on the Public Safety Commission.
ABOUT THE PUBLIC SAFETY COMMISSION:
Pursuant to DHSMC Section 2.24.020, the Public Safety Commission shall consist of five (5) members each appointed by one (1) member City Council, and ratified by a majority vote of the City Council. Members are appointed for two-year terms (current term expires January 2027).
Meetings:
Regularly scheduled meetings of the Public Safety Commission are held on the 2nd Thursday of each month at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall/Council Chamber, located at 11999 Palm Drive in Desert Hot Springs.
Purpose:
Pursuant to DHSMC Section 2.40.020, the Public Safety Commission is an advisory body to the City Council on matters concerning the funding of police services and establishing levels of law enforcement service in the City. The Commission shall have the duties as outlined:
- To act as an advisor between the community, Police Department, and the City Council
- To make recommendations relating to the implementation of programs and/or projects that affect public safety in the community.
Compensation:
Each member of the Public Safety Commission shall receive a salary in the amount of $100.00 per meeting (DHSMC 2.40.050).

Application Deadline: The deadline to submit a completed application is May 27, 2025.
The City Council is scheduled to consider the appointment at the June 3, 2025 City Council Meeting.
This notice was duly posted as required by law. Final appointment will not be made by the City Council for at least ten working days after the posting of this notice.
